Usage of verbs: đưa (to give), gửi (to send), chuyển (to transfer)…The group of verbs: “đưa, gửi, chuyển”… have the general meaning: to give or to transfer something to someone, or to somewhere.
- “Đưa”: give, give directly to others.
- “Gửi”: transfer to another person, another place through an intermediary.
- “Chuyển”: take something from one place to another.
– With the meaning of giving something to someone, we use the preposition “cho” and the position of objects of the sentence can be:
– Tôi mới gửi cho mẹ tôi một bức thư. (I’ve just sent my mother a letter.)
– Tôi mới gửi một bức thư cho mẹ tôi.(I’ve just sent a letter to my mother.)
Sometimes we can omit the preposition if the object is positioned right after the verb.
– Tôi mới gửi mẹ tôi một bức thư.
– Em tôi mới gửi tôi một bức điện.
– With the meaning of transferring something to somewhere, we use the word “đi”, and “đi” in this case functions as a preposition, for example:
– Tôi muốn gửi bưu kiện này đi Pháp.(I want to send this package to France.)
– Tôi mới gửi fax đi Mỹ. (I’ve just sent a fax to America.)
– Anh hãy chuyển chiếc xe máy này đi Hải Phòng cho tôi.(Please, transfer this motorcycle to Hai Phong for me.)
