Before, you knew about the meaning of the word “đã” as a word used to talk about the past in a sentence. In this case, the word “đã” isn’t a stand-alone word. It usually appears in past tense or perfect tense to support the meaning “already did something” or “has done something”.
Today, I’m going to show you one more use of the word “đã” when it comes at the end of a sentence.
- A final particle “đã” means “first”, “before”. We use “da” when we think that something should be done first or before doing the others, for example:
- FOR EXAMPLE:
– Khát nước rồi, đi uống nước đã. (I am thirsty, so let’s go for a drink.)
– Tôi chưa đi thư viện bây giờ, tôi phải đi ngân hàng đã. (I don’t go to the library now, I have to go to the bank first.)
– Làm lâu rồi, nghỉ một lát đã. (We have worked for a long time, so take a rest.)
– Tôi chưa thể đi xem phim với bạn bây giờ. Tôi phải làm xong việc đã. (I can’t go to the cinema with you right now. I have to finish the job.)
