The particle: “ra”, “thấy”, “được” often go after verbs to express the result of an action.
- “Ra” often goes with verbs such as: nghĩ (to think), nhớ (to remember), hiểu (to understand), phát hiện (to discover)…, for example:
– Tôi nhớ ra tên anh ấy rồi. (I remember his name now.)
– Tôi quên tên chị ấy. Tôi cố gắng nhớ mà không nhớ ra. (I forgot her name. I have tried but I can not remember.)
– Vấn đề đó không khó. Tôi giải thích mãi mà chị ấy vẫn không hiểu, nhưng bây giờ chị ấy đã hiểu ra. (This subject is not difficult. I have explained but she didn’t understand, but now she understands.)
- “Thấy” often goes with verbs as: nhìn (to look), trông (to see), tìm (to find), nhận (to recognize or to realise), for example:
– Tôi trông thấy anh ấy đang đi trên đường. (I saw him walking on the street.)
– Hôm qua tôi nhìn thấy anh ấy ở chợ. (Yesterday I saw him in the market.)
- “Được” can go with almost all verbs, for example
– Tôi mới mua được một chiếc xe máy. (I have just bought a motorcycle)
– Tôi mới nhận được thư của mẹ tôi. (I have just received my mother’s letter.)
– Tôi tìm được cái bút rồi. (I have found my pen already.)
