Grammar
The demonstrative pronouns in Vietnamese: đây, đó, kia
đây: used to indicate a person or a thing, location that is near the speaker.
đó: used to indicate a person or a thing or location far from the speaker. And the thing that is not in front of the speaker and the listener but both the speaker and the listener know about it.
kia: used to indicate a person or a thing, location that is far from the speaker.
Example:
Đây:
Đây là ai? => Đây là Anh Nam. Anh ấy là kỹ sư tin học.
Cô Lan, đây là sách gì? => Đây là sách tiếng Việt.
Đây là đâu? => Đây là trung tâm Hanoi Academy.
Đó:
Đó là bạn gái Anh Lee phải không? => Vâng. Đó là bạn gái anh Lee.
Đó là bản đồ phải không? => Phải. Đó là bản đồ Việt Nam.
Đó là ngân hàng phải không? => Dạ. Đó là ngân hàng Vietcombank.
Kia:
Đó là bạn gái Anh Lee phải không? => Vâng. Đó là bạn gái anh Lee.
Đó là bản đồ phải không? => Phải. Đó là bản đồ Việt Nam.
