This Mid-Autumn season at Hanoi L&C Academy, students from diverse countries such as France, the UK, and Korea… shared the unique experience of making traditional Vietnamese mooncakes – a signature delicacy of Vietnam.
For many, it was their very first time making mooncakes – a little clumsy, a little unfamiliar, yet filled with excitement as the teacher shared stories about the origins of Vietnam’s Mid-Autumn Festival.
Kneading the soft white dough by hand, feeling its elasticity, carefully adding fillings such as coconut with young green rice flakes, mixed nuts, salted egg custard, or red beans, then shaping the details and pressing them into molds to create traditional mooncakes — each step brought more joy and anticipation for what was to come.
As the mooncakes gradually took shape, the students also completed a meaningful cultural journey, discovering the essence of Vietnam’s Mid-Autumn traditions.
They enjoyed the festive atmosphere in a warm, multicultural space and left with mooncakes they had crafted themselves under the full moon of this special season.
Curious to taste each flavor, the students looked forward to pairing the mooncakes with Vietnamese lotus tea, imagining the distinctive combination of tastes.
